Hey everyone, today we are going to tell you about Technical SEO and its basic guidelines and overview to follow. But, before starting, let’s discuss with a short overview on Technical SEO and why is it important to maintain a good technical SEO practice.

What is Technical SEO?

Technical SEO is a process of optimizing your site for better performance of coding inside your website. It is related to making your website much faster by optimizing Java Scripts, HTML minifying, CSS minifying and all other aspects that directly or indirectly relates to the speed of your website. Further, in any technical SEO process, implementing proper cache, SSL and CDN are mandatory.

Technical SEO guidelines

1. Use HTTPS

Always implement an SSL or SSL with CDN together. SSL stands for Secure Socket Layout, it is highly recommended because Google seems to prefer HTTPS sites more than non HTTPS sites. It becomes one of the ranking factors in Google’s view. Also, if you have an E-Commerce site, it becomes mandatory because all the payment information and database can be hacked on any non-SSL site.

Ensure important content is ‘crawlable’ and ‘indexable’

Crawling is the process where Google or any other search engine discovers your website content, this is usually done using search engine bots automatically. But failing to implement the metadata for bots to index a page can adversely affect your site’s ranking factor. So a proper “robots.txt” file must be set and proper metadata for bots must be implemented inside the web pages.

Ensure a proper hosting server for speed

We have seen many website site owners using low-cost servers for cost-cutting and lack server knowledge. If you are in a budget segment, you can start off with Hostinger or Digital Ocean Server. It will cost 1$ a month to 5$ a month maximum.

Using Canonical Tags

Canonical Tags are used to identify duplicate content on a single page. Duplicate content is those which have the same content pages. This can affect the ranking of all the duplicate pages. Using proper canonical tags can help bots to identify how much more importance to give to a single page than its other duplicate pages.

Creation of Sitemap

The sitemap must be created by you, to direct search engine bots exactly how many web pages are there on your website. A sitemap.xml site is used to give all the existing web pages that you want to crawl basically.

Link up orphan pages

There should be no orphan pages. Actually, orphan pages are those which have no internal linking. So, a good technical SEO includes this procedure to check whether all the pages are linked internally particularly or not.

Optimize page loading speed

Okay, last but not the least, loading speed of your website must be within 3 seconds. The higher loading speed will give a good user experience that can retain visitors for a longer time.

So that’s it guys, all the basic factors, but not limited to, that are involved in Technical SEO steps.
